SYMPTOM:
While saving your Daily Box
Office Reports at the end of business for the day you enounter the
error "Daily Report From a Previous Day Is Missing."
CAUSE:
Most likely it isn't that a report has been lost, rather you probably
reconfigured the movie the previous night and used the previous day's
date as the feature's film week start date rather than today's date.
Then, you initialized the system for the current date, sold tickets,
and now since the week start date was yesterday, the system is
searching for that report.
SOLUTIONS:
In
order for you to be able to complete the report for the day and
correct the problem you've created for the rest of the week, you must
manually edit the feature configuration file for the movie(s) that
have this problem-- assuming the feature film week setup is the
problem. First, note the feature slot number and feature title for
all features where you have this problem. Next, go to the Features
Menu and Configure Feature menu choice. Select each of the movies
you're having a problem with and check that the start date is correct.
If not, you must change the film week section of the file in order
to fix the problem. To edit the playdate section of the file, follow
instructions here:
If all of the playdates are correct and you still get a report from previous day is missing error, someone must have reconfigured the movie since the previous day and used a start date other than today's date when doing so. This creates a hole where you cannot proceed from unless a blank (dummy) file is manually created to fill the hole. This can also result from a situation where the theatre was not open for a day and no reports were generated and saved for the day the theatre was closed. Remember, whether you are open or not, a report for each film must be saved in order to increment ticket numbers for subsequent days.
To create a dummy report file for a missing report, a blank sales file must be created in the filename format shown below and the file should be in the C:\BOXPRO\DATA folder. You can use the MS-DOS editor (EDIT.COM) or Windows Notepad (NOTEPAD.EXE) to create a new file and save to the C:\BOXPRO\DATA folder.
SALESFx.DAy or SALESFxx.DAy ----- where x = the feature slot number and y = the day of the film week 1-7
Example:
Feature
"Message
in a Bottle" Feature Slot #4.
Let's
say it's Sunday. The daily box office report for feature slot #4
(Message In A Bottle) says "Report From A Previous Day is Missing"
and the film week started on Friday. That means Saturday's report is
somehow missing. The filename in this instance for the missing file
is SALESF4.DA2
for Sales, Feature #4, Day 2.
To create an empty dummy (placeholder) file so that you may continue to do reports for this film, open the MS-DOS editor or Windows Notepad, create a new blank file, and then go to "File" -> Save As, and save the filename as C:\BOXPRO\DATA\SALESF4.DA2.
